Julia Ruff, MS, LCMHC, NCC, ASDCS
Primary Therapist
Julia uses a trauma-informed approach with students and the clinical modalities she utilizes include cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy, expressive arts therapy, and mindfulness.
She is passionate about wilderness therapy and especially appreciates how often it presents opportunities for students to work through the core tenants of dialectical behavioral therapy – mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance. Julia has worked for more than four years in the field of wilderness therapy.
Julia began in the position of field instructor and then returned to school to become a therapist. She completed her clinical internship at a wilderness therapy program and has also worked directly with parents as a family therapist, with adolescents at a therapeutic boarding school, and worked supporting children and families in a homeless shelter.

Trails saved my daughter’s life. Amanda is an amazing human and a brilliant therapist. I am so grateful to her, Science Steve, and the other wonderful people who could reach my daughter at a time when I could not.

Great life changing experience for our son. After becoming addicted to gaming during covid he was very depressed. At Trails he experienced the wilderness, Science Steve, learning survival skills and top notch therapy and support etc… I highly recommend! This gave our son and our family a renewed family bond full of love and excitement about his bright future.
