One of the Best Wilderness Programs for Your Child Age 10-17 and the Family
Is your son struggling with an emotional or behavioral challenge? Trails Carolina, a wilderness therapy program, is a great alternative to a school for troubled boys. With an accredited academic program and an evidence-based therapeutic approach, Trails Carolina has helped hundreds of teen boys find lasting success.
Our wilderness therapy program is dedicated to helping teens work through behavioral or emotional difficulties, build trusting relationships with their family and peers, and achieve academic success. Like a school for troubled boys, Trails Carolina helps young people struggling with behavioral and emotional challenges such as defiance, depression, and anxiety.
As a wilderness therapy program, one of the benefits of our therapeutic process is a complete removal from a teen’s everyday setting. Teens do not have access to their smartphones or social media. Instead, they are out in nature, working with therapists and academic staff on their own personal growth. We have helped troubled teen boys from all over the country make lasting changes in their lives.
We offer Family Support and Integrated Academics for your child
Why Choose Trails Carolina as an Alternative to a School for Troubled Boys?
Trails Carolina has all of the benefits of a traditional school setting, but with an evidence-based therapeutic approach. Our program is considered an alternative to a school for troubled boys because:
- We have an accredited academic program: Our accredited academic programming provides a personalized curriculum tailored to suit each of our student’s individualized academic needs.
- We are family-focused: Our program includes integrated family programming which parallels the student’s progress and treatment throughout Trails. Family therapy sessions are also held on a regular basis.
- Students learn in a variety of settings: At base camp, students have the opportunity to learn in a traditional classroom setting. However, they also get to learn in a variety of experiential settings. Our Nature Center provides hands-on learning. A student’s academic experience continues throughout expeditions, as well.
- Students gain useful life skills: Throughout their time at our camp for troubled teens, students learn useful skills and experience personal growth. They learn teamwork, leadership, responsibility, and personal awareness.

Building Resilience Through Wilderness Therapy
Our programming is designed around transitions and healing the entire family. We want your child to practice their newfound skills in a variety of challenging environments, building resilience that will allow them to easily carry these positive behaviors into the real world. At the same time, it’s important that you as a parent are empowered with new approaches to support your child’s success.
