Sarah has worked as a Wilderness Field Instructor as well as on the clinical team, supporting youth in the development of their treatment goals and progress. Prior to coming to Trails, Sarah worked over four years as a Director and Senior Social Worker providing counseling and recovery services to youth and young adult survivors of human trafficking and complex trauma in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area . She has also worked extensively in adoption; supporting adoptive families through parenting children with attachment related disorders, trauma and other clinical concerns. Sarah joined Trails after discovering the effectiveness of wilderness based treatment, and is passionate about the positive and lasting change wilderness has on emotional and mental health. During her free time, Sarah enjoys playing and creating music, writing and traveling with her husband and children. Additionally, she volunteers with various organizations to build programming and provide support for youth that have been trafficked and exploited. She has an adventurous spirit and enjoys being outdoors and exploring new opportunities.
